How Long Engagement Sessions Really Take (And Why Longer Isn’t Better)

A common question couples ask is how long engagement sessions should be.

My sessions run for 1–1.5 hours, and here’s why that works so well.

Enough time without overwhelm

This timeframe allows:

  • time to settle nerves

  • space for movement and variety

  • a relaxed, unrushed experience

Anything longer often leads to fatigue rather than better photos.

Quality over quantity

You don’t need hours and hours. You need the right amount of time to feel comfortable and connected.

The sweet spot

For most couples, 1–1.5 hours is the perfect balance between ease and intention.
