“We’re So Awkward in Photos…”
If I had a dollar for every time a client told me they were awkward in front of the camera, I’d be able to shout us all a round of coffees. The truth is — almost everyone feels this way at first.
But here’s the secret: you don’t need to know how to pose or “be photogenic.” You just need the right photographer to guide you.
As a Bathurst photographer, I’ve worked with couples, families, and business owners who all started out saying the same thing: “We’re hopeless at photos.” And guess what? They walked away with images full of laughter, connection, and confidence.

It’s Not About Posing — It’s About Connection
The best photos don’t come from standing stiffly and saying “cheese.” They come from little in-between moments — the way you look at each other, the way your kids climb into your arms, or the way you laugh at a silly prompt I give you.
My job isn’t to make you “perfect.” My job is to help you relax, forget the camera is even there, and let your real selves shine through.
My Tips for Feeling Comfortable in Photos
Move, don’t pose
Instead of holding a stiff smile, I’ll give you prompts that involve walking, hugging, twirling, or tickling your kids. Movement makes everything feel more natural.
Wear what feels like you
If you’re uncomfortable in your outfit, it’ll show. Choose clothes you feel confident and relaxed in (bonus points if they let you move freely).
Focus on each other, not me
When you’re wrapped up in your family, your partner, or your brand story, you stop worrying about the camera. That’s when the magic happens.
Trust the process
It’s completely normal to feel nervous at first. Within minutes, you’ll realise how fun and easy it actually is.

Families, Couples & Branding Clients
Whether it’s:
Families worried their kids won’t sit still,
Couples saying they’ve “never done photos before,” or
Business owners dreading headshots,
…I promise you’re not alone. By the end of your session, you’ll be saying, “That was actually so much fun!”
Why Candid Photography Works
My style is all about candid, storytelling moments. That means you’re never left wondering where to put your hands or how to smile. Instead, I capture you as you are — raw, fun, and full of personality.
The result? Photos that feel like “yep, that’s us.”
