Natural newborn portraits by Maddi Lee’s Photography Bathurst

There’s nothing quite like the first weeks with a newborn. The tiny fingers, sleepy yawns, and soft little noises — they pass in the blink of an eye.

As a Bathurst newborn photographer, my goal is to capture those fleeting early days in a way that feels natural, warm, and true to you. Here’s what you can expect from a newborn session with me.

Why newborn photos matter

The newborn stage is so short — your little one changes daily. Photos freeze this magical season so you can look back and remember just how tiny they once were. These images become family heirlooms you’ll treasure forever.

What a newborn session looks like with me

Relaxed & baby-ledI never rush a session. We take breaks for feeds, cuddles, or nappy changes as needed. Your baby sets the pace.

At-home or studio-styleSessions can be in the comfort of your home (perfect for lifestyle newborn photos) or at a location with beautiful light and backdrops.

Natural posingI focus on safe, simple poses — swaddles, cuddles, and natural moments. No complicated props, just your baby as they are.

Family includedParents and siblings are always welcome in newborn sessions. These connections make the gallery even more special.

Uncapped galleryLike all my sessions, you’ll receive every photo of value — not just a handful. That means dozens of little moments you’ll never want to forget.

How to prepare for your newborn session

  • Keep it simple: Neutral outfits, soft wraps, and minimal fuss photograph beautifully.

  • Warm & cosy: A warm room helps your baby stay comfortable and sleepy.

  • Take your time: Don’t stress if baby cries or needs to feed — it’s all part of the process.

  • Be yourselves: The sweetest moments often happen when you’re just cuddling and loving your baby.

When to book your newborn session

The ideal time is within the first 2–3 weeks after birth when babies are extra sleepy and curled up. But if that window passes, don’t worry — older newborns are just as gorgeous to photograph.

Because the days are long, but the years are short — and these moments are worth remembering.
