If you’ve followed my work for a while, you already know I’m obsessed with golden hour. That soft, dreamy light that wraps everything in warmth and makes every photo feel alive? That’s the good stuff.

But golden hour isn’t just about pretty sunsets — it’s about emotion, atmosphere, and capturing your story in the most magical light possible. Here’s why I’ll always recommend waiting for it.

🌞 What is golden hour?

Golden hour is that short window of time right after sunrise or before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and glowy. It’s nature’s built-in filter — flattering skin tones, gentle shadows, and colours that look like a painting.

It’s the difference between a nice photo and the kind of photo that stops you mid-scroll.

✨ Why it’s worth waiting for

1. It’s the most flattering light

No harsh midday shadows, no squinting — just soft, even light that makes every skin tone glow. It’s pure magic for couples, families, and branding sessions alike.

2. It adds instant mood

Golden hour adds that cinematic glow that makes every moment feel romantic, nostalgic, and full of depth. You can’t fake it — you have to chase it.

3. It makes colours pop

Warm light brings out the rich tones in your skin, outfits, and surroundings. Whether it’s autumn leaves or summer fields, golden hour enhances everything naturally.

4. It slows everything down

Golden hour sessions often feel calmer. The day winds down, the light softens, and you can just be. That’s when the real, connected moments happen.

🌅 Planning your session around the light

In Bathurst and the Central West, golden hour timing shifts throughout the year — sometimes it’s 8:00PM in summer, sometimes closer to 5:00PM in winter.

When you book with me, I’ll plan the timing for you. We’ll schedule your session so we’re shooting at the best possible moment for that buttery, golden glow.

If we’re doing a morning session instead, sunrise light is equally stunning — soft, peaceful, and fresh. Perfect for early risers and little ones.

💛 Golden hour is about more than light

It’s about feeling. It’s that moment when everything slows down, the light hits just right, and you can feel the warmth on your skin.

Those are the moments that make a gallery unforgettable.

Ready to chase the light?

If you’re dreaming of golden hour photos in Bathurst or anywhere across the Central West NSW, I’d love to capture them for you.
