What you wear to your engagement session plays a big role in how your photos feel — but it doesn’t need to be complicated.
This guide is designed for couples booking engagement sessions in NSW, especially outdoor and nature-based locations.
Choose tones that feel natural
Soft, neutral, and earthy tones photograph beautifully:
creams, beiges, browns
soft greens, muted blues
warm rusts and tans
Avoid heavy logos or loud patterns that pull focus.
Think texture over trends
Knits, linen, flowy fabrics, and layers add movement and depth to your photos — especially during outdoor engagement sessions.
Texture matters more than being “on trend.”
Coordinate, don’t match
Your outfits should complement each other, not be identical. Choose a shared colour palette and build from there.
Comfort matters
Engagement sessions run for 1–1.5 hours, so wear something you can move, walk, and sit in comfortably. When you’re comfortable, it shows.
If you’re ever unsure, I always help my couples with outfit guidance before their session.
