Not everything always goes to plan, let's be so for real...

When you are planning your wedding, it is so easy to get completely wrapped up in the perfection of the plan. You look at Pinterest, you line up the details, and you hope everything runs like clockwork.

But if Nicole and Tristan’s incredible day at the Orange Ex-Services Club proved anything, it’s this: A wedding is entirely about the people, not the perfect plan.

On paper? Absolutely everything went wrong.

They lost their original photographer just 10 days out from the wedding. The wedding dress didn't arrive in time. Nicole's parents were stuck overseas and couldn't be there in person. A rainy-day forecast forced a last-minute indoor location change. The cake was cancelled at the eleventh hour. And to top it all off, the celebrant arrived late... and nobody had a pen to sign the registry.

If you're a bride reading this, that list probably sounds like an actual nightmare. But let me tell you how this legendary couple turned chaos into easily one of the most memorable, emotional, and beautiful days I have ever had the privilege to shoot.

The 10-Day Emergency Rescue 🚨

My journey with Nicole and Tristan started with a chaotic twist. Just ten days before their date, their original photographer fell through. Panic station central, right?

Luckily, the universe was working overtime. A guest I had met at a wedding just a few weeks prior slipped into my inbox, asking if I was miraculously free. I caught up with Nicole, locked it in, and assured her that no matter what happened, we were going to capture absolute magic. Little did we know just how much that "no matter what" would be tested!

Love Across Oceans & A Surprise Ceremony Performance 🎤📱

Because Nicole's parents were stuck overseas, technology had to step in. Nicole’s brother stood at the front of the ceremony room, holding his phone up high to FaceTime them through the entire thing. The moment Nicole and Tristan walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, those faces on the glowing screen were some of the very first people to shout out their congratulations. There wasn't a dry eye in the room.

And speaking of tears—the Maid of Honour completely blew everyone away. Nobody had any idea she had brought a backing track with her! She stepped up, hooked into the celebrant's microphone, and beautifully sang the bride down the aisle. It was spontaneous, raw, and completely breathtaking.

Combined with the absolute cutest little flower girls you've ever seen, the indoor rainy-day backup space felt warmer and more alive than any sunny outdoor venue ever could.

The Private Escape at Orange Ex-Services Club 🍸✨

After the whirlwind of the ceremony, the missing pen hunt, and the sheer emotional overload of the morning, Nicole and Tristan did something every single wedding couple needs to copy.

They had hired two separate rooms at the Orange Ex-Services Club. While their guests headed into the main reception room to kick off the party, the bridal party slipped away into a privately booked, quiet room for an exclusive cocktail hour.

Just the two of them, their closest friends, a few drinks, and a moment to breathe. Watching them sit down, look at each other, and finally let the weight of the day melt away was pure gold.

Their connection is next-level. When you strip away the cake, the dress delays, and the timeline changes, you are left with two people making a promise to choose each other over the rest of the world. And that is exactly what they did.

To the New Mr. & Mrs. 🥂

Nicole and Tristan, thank you for trusting me to step into your world 10 days out and document the beautiful, unfiltered reality of your love story. Your day was proof that love doesn't need a perfect checklist to be absolutely flawless.

Shoutout to the venue for rolling with the punches:
