Some weddings are about ticking boxes.
Some are about traditions, timelines, and expectations.
Sue and Pete’s wedding was about belonging.
They tied the knot at Tanwarra Lodge, surrounded by their closest friends and family, many of whom travelled from overseas to be there. It wasn’t just a wedding day. It was a shared experience. A weekend. A gathering. A celebration that felt grounded, intentional, and deeply personal from beginning to end.
This was the kind of wedding that reminds you what it’s all actually about.
A Wedding That Was Built Around Meaning, Not a Template
From the moment I arrived, it was clear this wasn’t a “copy and paste” kind of wedding. Sue and Pete weren’t interested in doing things because they felt they should. They cared about doing things because they mattered.
Their ceremony was completely customised to reflect them as a couple. One of the most heartfelt moments came when Sue read a poem about dinosaurs for all of the grandbabies. It was playful, emotional, unexpected, and so authentically them. There were laughs, teary eyes, and that shared feeling in the air that everyone present was witnessing something truly special.
That tone set the pace for the entire day.
There was no rush.
No pressure to perform.
No need to manufacture moments.
Everything unfolded naturally, exactly as it was meant to.

Tanwarra Lodge | A Space Filled With History, Vision & Family
Tanwarra Lodge wasn’t just the backdrop for Sue and Pete’s wedding. It’s a space they’ve been pouring their hearts into, transforming it into a luxury accommodation experience, and you could feel that pride and connection in every corner of the property.
Having friends and family stay on-site completely changed the energy of the day. People weren’t arriving, leaving, or watching the clock. Kids played freely. Conversations lingered. Meals were shared. Campfires burned late into the evening. It felt less like an event and more like a reunion of people who genuinely love one another.
This is what happens when a wedding becomes an experience rather than a schedule.
The Cars, The Details & What Truly Mattered
For Pete, the cars were a huge highlight and an important part of the story. They weren’t just visual details. They represented passion, years of memories, and something deeply personal. Photographing Sue and Pete standing in front of them, exchanging looks, hands in the air, completely relaxed, felt effortless.
Those moments didn’t need direction. They just needed space.
And that’s exactly what this day offered.

Why This Wedding Worked So Beautifully
Sue and Pete trusted their day.
They trusted that the meaningful moments would happen without forcing them.
They trusted their people.
They trusted the pace.
They trusted each other.
Because of that trust, the emotions came through honestly. The laughter felt unfiltered. The quiet moments felt just as important as the big ones.
As a wedding photographer, these are the days that allow me to do my best work. Days where I’m not chasing moments, but simply documenting what naturally unfolds.
A Reminder for Couples Planning Their Wedding
If you’re currently planning your wedding and feeling overwhelmed by expectations, this is your sign to pause.
You don’t need a packed timeline to have a meaningful day.
You don’t need to follow a traditional format for your wedding to be valid.
You don’t need to perform to have beautiful photos.
What you need is intention.
When you build your wedding around who you actually are, the photos don’t just look good. They feel like home. They feel honest. They feel like something you’ll want to come back to again and again.
Photographing Weddings Like This Is Why I Do What I Do
Sue and Pete’s wedding is a perfect example of why I’m drawn to intimate, relaxed, deeply personal weddings. Days where couples prioritise connection over perfection and presence over pressure.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels calm, meaningful, and true to you, whether that’s an intimate gathering, a property wedding, or a weekend surrounded by your people, these are the stories I love telling.
Sue and Pete, thank you for trusting me to capture such a special chapter of your lives. Your wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most powerful days are the ones built with heart.
